Views from the 28th Floor - 03-27-2006, 03:33 PM

Not saying which building and I couldn't shoot from all sides. Well, I could have but thought it wouldn't be a good idea without an invitation from the person occupying the office.

Edited: First one had horizon tilted. No wonder I felt like I was falling.........hehehe
What was the first one is now the last one.

very cool views, you are lucky to have access to the floor.

(straighten the horizon on the first one)

Thanks for the views.

Thanks Keith and Jerry. Changed the photo by leveling horizon Jerry, what was first is now last.

Question Chase Texas Tower - 03-27-2006, 07:24 PM

Well, the views cannot be from "The Tower" nor the "Carter & Burgess Plaza" since they are both pictured. You must have been in one of what we used to call the "Bass Buildings." They've changed names a few times, but I believe they are now: the larger of the "twins" the "D.R. Horton Tower" and the smaller, the "Chase Texas Tower."

I think you were in the Chase Texas Tower.

BTW: Nice scenic shots.

Wells Fargo Tower - 03-27-2006, 07:58 PM

You are right Bruce except it is formerly the Chase Texas Tower. It's now the Wells Fargo Tower. I know this because my wife told me so.

Roy,

I liked that one best the first time. Now it really looks good!

(I've drained so many lakes and oceans with my photos, you'd think there would be no water left on the planet!)

Great opertunity for some really nice photos.

Opps. I just found out I wasn't completely truthful in stating these were from the 24th floor.
They were actually on the 28th floor. Now I know why my ears were popping and why I was getting queasy looking out the window.

.......Title changed from 24th to 28th.

As I am still trying to learn how to shoot such clean, sharp pictures, would you mind sharing what lens and specs you used to shoot these? These are some of my favorite pictures I have seen.

Wonka, appreciate your comments. Here's the exif. in the following order.

Photo #, Exposer, Apeture, ISO, Focal Length

#1, 1/250, f4, 200, 28mm
#2, 1/400, f4, 200, 38mm
#3, 1/250, f4, 200, 51mm
#4, 1/400, f4, 200, 37mm
#5, 1/250, f4, 200, 37mm

All were taken with aperture priority. Hope that helps.

Smile Made The Most Of It - 03-29-2006, 12:53 AM

There's only four other places in Tarrant County where you could have been higher. You made real good use of the opportunity with some simply wonderful pictures. Don't you just love a day like that: you can live off the gleanings for weeks.

You know as you think about your calendar project, you might include these kinds of pictures: Call it "Vertical Fort Worth."

That must have been from the Wells Fargo tower, it looks like you caught the edge of the DR Horton tower on the 4th shot. You were in the next tower over from where I work and 4 floors down. I love my view every day.

I guess I was lucky to be up there because I don't work there. My wife does though and she had to be there briefly on Sunday. Jehos, you got it. I think your building might be in this shot. I was shooting up from the 28th floor here. Your lucky to have that view. There's not a lot to view here from my workstation.

Roy,

Please help me understand some basic photography stuff here. When I look at your pictures everything seems to be in focus, yet you shot them all at f/4. I thought when you wanted stuff like this to all be in focus you need to shoot at f/8, f/11 or even higher. I thought when you shoot at f/4 or lower only the specific item you are focusing on will be in perfect focus? What am I missing? Thanks.
