Exclamation Never Before Seen View Of FW Skyline - 03-28-2006, 06:02 PM

Up until a week ago last Saturday, nobody in Fort Worth had ever stood at the corner of 7th and Throckmorton and looked north and seen these three buildings aligned: Kress, Sinclair, and the D.R. Horton Tower.

The reason: the just imploded Landmark Tower completely blocked this view. It's true that the Kress and Sinclair Buildings were built before the Landmark Tower was, but the D.R. Horton Tower was built after.

Excellent capture and description... it's truly one of those "I wish I had thought of that" moments.

Thanks, Tom, for the kind comment.

To step back and see what the Landmark Tower meant to the Fort Worth skyline, here's a before and after comparison. Both shots were taken from the "porch" of the Amon Carter Museum facing east -- one last Fall; the other last week. (The difference in color is primarily due to the time of day: the "after implosion" shot was taken at high noon and looks far less vivid as a result ).

I wish I had thought of that! hehe. Good idea Bruce, you should submit that to the Star Telegram. I bet they don't have that one in their files.
