This was one of the ships on the Wings of Freedom Tour. . . .was able to catch the old Baker Hotel in the background. . .

then a B-17 showed up. . .

And a B-25 Mitchell was there. . .

Thumbs up Nice Shot - 04-05-2006, 10:01 PM

Very nice capture. You're really in the know: always in the right place at the right time.

Ah, the old Baker Hotel - - now there's a relic from a bygone era which will never be restored.

Keith - You really do get a lot of great air planes shoots. One shoot had a Bonanza in the background, I knew a few people that owen them. They are a great aircraft, but back to the war birds, they are great. Did you see the sponson list for the B24, when you top of the tanks on that it is a few buck.
Do you fly or just shoot?
Thanks

thanks. . .I just shoot. I am sure these old bombers suck gas like a 74 Trans Am . . . Also, the insurance on these things is a pretty penny too. . . . one of the reasons they charge $400 for a ride.

These are great shots. I really enjoy seeing these old planes at shows. I really like it when the motion of the props are properly captured in the image as you have done. Too often I have seen a fast shutter speed used which freezes the motion of the props making it look like the plane's engines got turned off in flight. For my own education, what shutter speed did you use, about 1/125 sec?
Thanks,
Erik pronske

Thanks Erik. . . I agree on the prop blur. . . it adds alot and looks more natural. When I shoot props I try to keep the shutter speed at 250. . .maybe up to 320. The top photo of the B-24 was taken on my 300mm at 1/250 . . . The shot of the B-17 on taxi was taken on a 24-70 lens at 1/200. . .and the last shot of the B-25 (on a 17-40 lens) was at 1/60

Do you guys know if they are doing an airshow? Or just flying people around? I saw this flying around above close to where I live this evening, unfortunately I was out, and didn't have my longer lenses with me.

I don't think they're doing any kind of scheduled airshow. . . . they are taking folks who can fork up the $375-$425 bucks for rides.
