As award-winning arts festivals go, this effort by Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives rules North Texas. Heck, it commands the entire state, with a top Texas ranking in the annual Harris List of arts fests and a No. 8 score on the list nationally. It's also in the national top 10 in artist-booth revenue (sales last year topped $7 million), a standing that's partially due to the quality offered by the 200 juried artisans who'll pack downtown Fort Worth beginning April 20. But that's just the hull of the giant cruise ship that is the Main St. fest. Also on board will be dance, theatrical and music performances (including some by such national acts as Kirk Whalum, Otis Day & the Knights, OK Go, Ingram Hill and Emilio) on three main stages and throughout the street, and the Gourmet Fare area featuring dozens of food items from the typical to the exotic.
