Anyone know if the bluebonnets did well in Ennis this year? My wife and I went two years ago, and the displays were awesome. Last year, though, the fields were sparse. With the drought, I was wondering how the fields down there look this year?

I didn't drive the actual trail Friday but did go through Ennis on my way to Crawford and wildflowers were sparse to non-existant the whole way. I took back roads on both sides of I-35 in hopes of finding some flowers along the way and there were few patches and those that did exist were very thinly populated with flowers. Now the actual trail may be a bit better but don't expect a wow factor like some years. Also noticed many creeks were dry or close to it, wonder how the wildlife is handling the situation?

Thanks for the info. I've heard that East Texas may have better displays of wildflowers. We might try out there this weekend.

I was at Lake Whitney last Saturday and didn't see one blue bonnet. And usually its like a sea of blue in that area.

Yeah, I took the back road from Dallas to Boerne and nothing. My mother-in-law just got back from Chappel Hill and said the bluebonnets were great around there, 290 area. We saw very few in Ennis when I went with ScoobyRoo.

Better hurry ... the bluebonnets are passing their prime and are beginning to fade
