Nightlight x 1,000,000 - 04-20-2006, 01:34 AM

Mama Nature is putting on quite the light show up here. But here's why I'm on the 'puter and not out there shooting light sticks:

Exposure: 1 second @ f/2.8

Same exact settings just a few minutes later:

When the second bolt struck I got hit with a wave of electricity that almost lifted me off the ground. It was the stangest feeling. I've never been so close to lightning before.

I decided I'd pushed my luck as far as I needed to and came inside.

Uhh, Holy Poop!

You're a braver man than I, nice grab. Did you use your lightning trigger?

Wow! I think I would have ran inside and changed my pants after that last shot.

BTW, it looks like you have some blown highlights in that last shot.

awesome, did you feel the hair on your neck twitch about, or were you too scared to notice?

I would have ran off crying like a little girl

Those shots rock and I hate you for it! I ran around like a kid in a candy store last night trying to get a decent vantage point to take some lightning shots and didn't get a damn thing. First place I tried was the upper parking deck at Northeast Mall. Great view and I was really set up and got some decent cloud photos but security came along and thinking I might be some kind of terrorist, told me to leave the property. I'm still mad at them, I wasn't even facing the mall!

Ahh, see what happens when you don't wear your "Not a Terrorist" t-shirt. You'll know for next time.

Nice job Joe, I figured you would try to catch that storm. Too much cultural lighting around me, I need to scope out a good storm spot...

I was still awake when the storms rolled through, but the wind was ridiculous in my area. No way I was going to stand there in that.

My new house has a nice view of the west, south-west and I'm about 1 mile from open farm land. I'm looking forward to some storm watching after I move in.
