This shot just speaks to me about what the festival is all about.

I absolutely love the colors. How do you get away with taking pictures at one of these events? Everytime I try, people act like I am trying to steal trade secrets. :-)

It certainly was packed with folks I must say. Got to see what I wanted to see and if it didn't get so hot, might of been there a while longer. You know, there are folks that come to this from a long ways away to set up and show their products. I didn't know that.

Here's a quick one from the band "Me and My Monkey". They do lots of Beatles stuff and do a great job of it too IMO. We had seen them for the first time about 3 years ago and a music store in Weatherford, Tx. This place has room in the back for a stage and small audience for bands to perform. They still sound just as good as back then.

Man didn't realize Me and My Monkey was playing. They usually play in the summer in North Richland Hills. I agree that they do a great job.

I heard Texas Gypsies, and they were terrific. Very accomplished musicians, and very entertaining.

Tell me about it. I was looking at the framing for a shot of one guy's booth. He was selling a bunch of clay pots, but did a good job with setting up his stand. I didn't take a shot (had my 70-300 mounted), but the guy came up to me and started hassling me about if I want to shoot people's work I REALLY should ask first. I don't have a problem with that, but I just don't get the attitude. I mean, my camera bag and the stuff in it cost more than if I were to buy every clay pot in his little tent. Does he really think I'm carrying around a couple grand of camera gear just to steal ideas for selling clay pots?

I don't think you would use a big SLR really wanted to steal ideas, to obvious. If I was that guy, I would be on the look out for small point and shoot cameras or cell phones with cameras on them.

Man, I hate to play devil's advocate here but I've found at festivals that it is always proper etiquette to ask the vendor before taking a photograph. I've talked to some of them at length and they are very concerned for their well being. Most will allow it but I've had some people ask me not to. Other's I'll show them the shot in my LCD and even give them a card if they're interested in the photo.

And the attitude, from what I've observed, comes from the pride they take in creating their wares.

But I'm with you in that it can be a bit disturbing when they come after you when you know you're not doing anything wrong.
