I know shameless plug here but my 12 year old son's baseball team will be playing at the Dr Pepper field at the Ball Park in Arlington at 3:00 PM June 10th. If you have not seen this field for kids games it's simply amazing.

I will be trying out for the first time a 2.X TC on my 70-200

I shot there a couple weeks ago.. I made the mistake of putting my big toe on the field and got a tongue lashing from the "Official Photographer". I was helping my friend shoot his nephew who was in the game. That "Official Photographer" told a dad to get behind the fence (he was on the dugout ramp) and the dad let him have it... The photog decided it wasnt worth the effort I guess..

Anyway...I understand the biz.. but geez.. Be a little more polite next time!

That's when you swing a monopod in the direction of the "official photogs." knees. I hate people that try to big-time like that in person.

I always make it a point to politely say hello to anybody with a camera at youth sporting events....especially when I'm toting around a 400mm lens. It's just common courtesy. If that "official guy" is intimidated by another person with a 1/2 decent lens, he needs to find another biz.

I see that crap a lot. Well, I've seen it a few times at least. One was just a few weeks ago at a 5K in Frisco. There was some "agreement" between the race director and this photographer. I guess the agreement is that that race director will only hire that photographer. I really don't care. However, there was another photographer there (in addition to myself) who was just walking around taking photos of random stuff. This was more than just a regular 5K... there were lots of booths and face painting... kids' stuff ya know. So anyway, I saw the "official photographer" get in this other photographer's face and start jumping his SH*T. I just ignored the ordeal and was minding my own business. The other guy ended up leaving I think.

After about 15 minutes went by, the official photographer made his way over to me and asked me who I was shooting for. I told him that I was shooting for Dick's Sporting Goods; which was a complete lie. He said, "Hmm. Ok. I just don't want anyone putting their hand in my pocket." I asked him what that meant. He said that he had to tell the other photographer off for taking photos and that it could affect his business. I basically told him that he could kiss my ass and that if he tried that crap with me I would beat his ass to a pulp right in front of God and everyone. I told him that he was a jackass for acting like that and that it was a free country... it was a public place... and a public event... and there is no law against taking photos... so he could just F' off! He didn't say anything else to me and just walked away. He came back about 5 minutes later with a cop. I told the cop exactly what I told the other photographer and the cop laughed and asked the guy, "You brought me over here for this crap?" And then he walked off laughing. The official photographer walked off and never came back again.

I hate jackasses! Why can't people just get along and mind their own business?
