Its a small Waterfall near one of the San Antonio Missions. This was a Dam built by the Natives Years and Years ago to help with the Flow of water to the missions, and to irrigate their fields.

Kevin,

I think he was refering to the merit. A merit is a point, or step toward becoming a master photographer, recognized by PPA or a member affiliate. (PPA = Professional Photographers of America.) Not an easy thing to do. Those people that have never shot film will find the test to become a Certified Professional Photographer extremely difficult as they have to learn all the ways of film to pass the test.

Congratulations, Kevin!

CJ

Not much to it really. It was a photograph I had to take for my first assignment. They Picked it to me a Merrit. Rarely Happens! Especially on the First Photo Assignment.

So are you taking the course there I guess? How much does it cost and do you feel it is worth the time if you want to become a serious photographer?

Kevin,

I really like this photo. You did a good job of not overexposing the water. This kind of photo is hard to do without a neutral density filter or at least an overcast sky. Now I would go into Photoshop and lighten the darker areas and saturate the green colors a little more. Then I would sharpen the image all except for the water. Leave the water like it is it looks great. Here's my version.

Jeff

P.S. Your version looks just fine as is. That's why I love photography. Everyone has their own idea of what looks good to them.

Yes, I am taking the Course. But since my time is Very Limited, it is going slow. I only just finished Unit 2.

As far as, "Is it worth the Money" I still new to it, and couldn't tell you.

When I signed up it was about $900.00

I am also attending NYIP, though I am almost finished shooting (I just need to get a shot of motion) with unit 1. I have been enrolled since November 2005. They give you 3 years to complete and they give some extensions also. The cost is about $900, but they offer a monthly payment plan (no interest). If you request information from them, about a couple of weeks after you receive the info they will start sending "coupons" for price adjustments.

Some probably say the material is a little dated, but the skills and techniques learned don't really change that much.

I thouhgt I knew about photography, but since I have been enrolled I realized there is alot I don't know.

Nice but when you send that to comp it would look washed out. the judges have the images under two mini spots that will wash out a print if not printed darker than normal. I like yours but it's a tade bit to bright all over. I like the darker areas and a central focus. If you have everything light you have no idea what the focous is of the image. Your image the water fall is no longer the subject of the image its now a background to the foreground.
