Shooting the Gaylord - 07-13-2006, 10:53 AM

For those of you who have been to the Gaylord in Grapevine, do they have a problem with folks walking around and shooting inside? I've heard it's really nice but never been there. It's just getting to dang hot for me, even in the evenings, to shoot outdoors much.

I did some senior photos there last March. No one gave us any hassles, but I've heard different stories from others. You might want to just call them and ask about their policy.

never had a problem, there are all kinds of people walking around shooting pictures. I have used tripod too, just tried not to block the walkways.

The photography fee is $250.00 which includes a personal assistant who can get you into restricted areas and a hotel room for clothing changes, hair styling , and make-up. They had to put this policy in because they were having as many as 15 photographers wandering around the place with a bride, blocking walkways with tripods and lightstands, etc. If you want to avoid paying the fee take your point and shoot and no tripod or lights. Look like a tourist and not a photographer.

OK, no problem here. I was planning on going with only one SLR and one lens (24-105 f/4L IS). If I happen to need fill flash for something, I can use the pop-up.

Thanks for all the info though.

I actually shot photos of a young lady there last summer. I called ahead and talked with the publicity people there and explained that I was NOT going to have more than oncamera flash and we would be very unobtrusive. They were very accomodating and I had no difficulty with my shots..... except for the sun's light patterns from the Geodesic frame work in the domes over head.

Is the parking still $7.00 for short term parking there? That is what it was the day I went. I dont even want to know what the long term parking might be.

I have spoken directly with the Security personnel there about taking pics. I have been in there twice with tripod and full camera gear with no problems. They might have an issue if you tried to break out a set of studio lights, though.

i beleive the parking is still $7 but you can get your parking validated if you make certain purchases. I had a drink and then parked for free.
