I've heard rumors of a bird rookery near UT Southwestern and was hoping someone could tell me where it is. I've got a doctors appointment down there tomorrow and would love to check if out if I have time. Thanks in advance!

There is a memorial garden and the birds have a small area, wooded.
Look for w. Campus dr. where it paralels Inwood and you will see a 3 or 4 car parking space for memorial. Bring your tele as they are nervous about visitors.
Um I just realized I am a day late and a dollar short. Sorry
Hope this helps

The Heard Museum is going to the Rookery on Saturday morning at 6;30 am. There are about 16 or so photographers going to take pictures that Morning. If you would like to
go, feel free to call me at 214-642-4599, or e-mail me at
johnyatesphoto@mindspring.com. Would like to have you there. This is a field trip put
on by the Heard Nature photo Ckub.

John, Just curious. Why Heard photo club put up a meeting there at the very late season of SWMC rookery. If any left, probably the Cattle E and the rest should be all gone by now. I read the recent heat have caused parent abandon the youngs, from Lewisville to SWMC... Dead bodies on the ground and youngs wondering neighbourhood.

Thanks for the info Hank. Not too late at all since we didn't even make it to my doc appt on time so no time to think about getting shots.

John, Thanks so much for the invite. I've got the IL's in town this weekend so I can't make it to this. However, I'm very interested in the Heard Nature Photo Club and will probably be joining soon. It's close to my house and seems like something I would enjoy.

Daniel,

Thanks for letting me know. I did not know most of the birds have left. We scheduled
this a long time ago. We, the photo club, sets dates about two to three months
in advance. When do the birds start coming back to nest?

I have seen more dead than I ever thought possible. A nature lady told me that typically a two egg nest system and the dominate chick will boot the other. I did notice 5 0r 6 chicks scrounging on the ground. They may be here at least one more month but i could be wrong. It's a great place to get arial shots.
