You can watch a Dallas PD vs. 18-wheeler chase on t.v. (Fox 4) right now and if you want to listen on your scanner, you can tune into 460.4750 and 460.4250 on any scanner.
Interesting to listen to the behind the scenes conversations between the units and SWAT. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Yeah this really shows how stupid the talking heads at the news can be at times-don't have a script. ON TV Station has the hijacker being the woman who is driving- WRONG THE BLACK DUDE HAS THE GUN WHICH IS VISIBLE FROM THE CHOPPER PICS!
Some lady got on the air with Ch 5 and said that the truck has 2- 250 gallon tanks- WRONG at most those are 200 gallon tanks on each side. But the Talking Heads couldn't figure out if this could run longer than a couple hours. Hey truckers like to run without having to stop for fuel so of course the tanks can hold a lot of fuel!
Suprised SWAT hasn't set up on an overpass and just taken out the radiator on the truck.

SWAT just asked for a .50 caliber gun to take out the motor. That should be interesting if they actually do it.

Well Dallas SWAT is behind them on I-20 now west of 360 in ARLINGTON with some of the officers riding on the back bumpers of the armored SWAT trucks. So now they can pick up Arlington and soon FT Worth Cops on this pursuit.
One thing that could stop the truck is that it has been running for about 20+ miles on the rims on the front and they are strating to fail in their own right.
One on the ground reporter said that you can really hear the steel rims scraping and the truck has made a couple of swearving moves on I-20 which puts even more stress on those steel rims than just going fairly straight.
About another hour of good sunlight left.

Just went past 287 and 2 tires on the the right side are now flat. One of the tires is on the trailer and one on the back of the truck cab, don't know about the left side of the truck.
Arlington police are now involved.
Funny people are stopping along I20 on the east bound side and running to the median to watch this- FOLKS THE ROAD IS 70 MPH THERE!

There was that .50 caliber on the overpass. How would you like to have a lens attached to that thing?

Well the truck had it's tires shot out by DPS when it went west of Tarrant County. Truck on side of road with fuel flowing from the fuel tanks all over the road- DALLAS SWAT is setting up around the back of the vehicle.

Ch 8 supposedly talked to the hijacker on a cell and he was talking about how society has put a target on the backs of black men.
Ch 8 said that the lady truck driver was fueling or had just fueled up her truck and may have been waiting to meet her daughter (said the driver lives in Allen) when the armed gunman climbed into the trucks passenger side and then this all happened.

Man having I-20 shut down for many hours will be a HUGE MESS affecting the US Trucking Industry! (Guess truckers have been on their radios talking about what is going on so they are figuring out alternative routes or they are taking down time or fueling).
Reporters say that she has been driving a rig for 10 years- I knew it was a skilled driver just handling the truck on front rims only.
Funny when the talking heads were talking about brakes overheating- Uh the brakes are more so on the REAR WHEELS of the CAB and on the trailer- those front wheel brakes are just extra stopping power they can go out and not affect the system too much. In fact i think they are on a seperate breaking system-master cylinder and all than the rear set.

My initial thought is a long night, but with the fast action the DPS took and since they are ultimately in charge it could be pretty fast. They can't use a flash bang or tear gas cannister due to the fact they'd set the cab on fire. They could use a gas ferret round possibly. Not a good situation all the way around.
The only goal at this point for those on the ground is to get the hostage out safely. I certainly wouldn't want to have to make this call.
I spent 5 of my 15 years of law enforcement career (San Francisco Bay Area) on our "Entry and Felony Team" (SWAT lite) and never had to get someone out of the sleeper of a tractor-trailer. I wish them well. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
