They're not tearing them all down. Here's a Queen Anne Victorian house in the process of being restored. This wooden beauty is located in the Leuda-May Historic District of south Fort Worth.

Below the photo of the house under restoration are its two immediately adjacent neighbors.

That is some beautiful architecture. I'm very glad to see them being restored.

Great post!

Bruce,
Is there someplace you go to get a list of all these houses you have been shooting lately? Are these houses mostly vacant? If not, how far away are you?

Scott,

Here's a good site with the Texas Historical Commission:

http://atlas.thc.state.tx.us/

I try to get as close as my lens allows in order to get the best light and perspective. Most restored homes are occupied. I've rarely had people question what I'm doing. I do, however, just use my camera and lens (28-135) and not a tripod and/or special lighting which might make me appear more professional to onlookers and therefore possibly out to exploit the scene for commercial purposes.

Once an owner came out and asked what I was about. I just said I was an amateur photog who admired their home. He then proceeded to tell me some interesting history about the house.

Others' mileage may vary.
