Looking for "something different" - 08-02-2006, 09:17 AM

An old building, a museum, a smashing church, a neat hotel.... I'm looking for a unique location. Wanting something different than a park. I don't mind affordable costs- but can't do 500.00 ;).

Ideally in a decent driving distance of carroltan, TX

I'm new to Dallas area so something "obvious" might not be so obvious to me

Any ideas? I'm photographing a little girl, and I've actually asked to photograph her because she melted my heart. I feel like I can get more creative when I do a shoot like this... and I want to take full advantage of it by using a really great location.

Any ideas?

There are some very neat places in old downtown fort worth and the stockyards. Check out the Stockyards Hotel - http://www.stockyardshotel.com/

I would imagine that so long as you don't show up with a tripod and lights, you can shoot w/o any fees or anything.

Check the Landmarks section of http://www.ci.carrollton.tx.us/gover...html#Landmarks

Then check out http://www.ci.carrollton.tx.us/devel...ACagenda.shtml

You can also go a Borders or Barnes & Noble bookstore and find info in their local interest sections.

Think in terms of libraries and historical societies as great resources. It's all findable on the Web.
