American Airlines CR Smith Museum - 04-20-2005, 10:32 PM

The American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum is one of the few museums in the world dedicated solely to commercial aviation. The museum opened in July 1993 and is dedicated to past and present American Airlines employees and C.R. Smith, longtime American Airlines president and aviation pioneer. The centerpiece of the Museum is a completely restored 1940s era DC-3, the Flagship Knoxville.

Thanks for the picture. One of the best things about this particular forum is the ability to share our work with others in the local area. I drive by the museum every day, and have never gone in. YET... I will now make a point of it. :P

Didn't make it there during my trip in February - will definitely do so next time I'm up there. Lord knows I've logged enough air miles (over 1.5M) on AA that I should get free admision!

The museum is on FAA rd. just south of hwy183. A couple of miles south of the DFW airport. Plenty of signs.

Miguel,

Wow, TPF's are everywhere. :) For nine years, I've worked at North Lake College In Irving and commuted there and back from East Fort Worth. I come over Trinity Blvd and cut over on FAA to get to the airport so I don't get into I30, 360 or 183 traffic at all. I've gone past the museum every day, but just stopped in for the first time this week.
