You know though, I was thinking today as I was taking this picture: I may never stay at this place in the rest of my lifetime, but right now I'm experiencing it and enjoying taking a picture of it. In a very definite way, it's now mine. That's not such a bad deal :)

Great photo.
I'm excited. My husband works for the city and the Texas Municipal League Convention will be held there this year. Not sure if we are staying there or not but looking forward to checking it out for sure anyway. I'll have free photo access. Sounds like fun!

Donna,

Here's two earlier threads which show some of the interior of the Gaylord. It's an outside possibility that maybe some of your seniors would want their pictures done there: controlled environment; good lighting. You need to scope it out.

Woooooo. How much would I have to charge to do pictures there?!?!?!?! My seniors would have to sell a kidney on ebay unless the hotel is open to just having folks wander thru and take pictures.
It does look very nice. (jumping up and down) I can't wait for vacation!!!!!!!!!

How far on the high side was it? Just curious...I could call but seems like my dialing fingers broken.

Just checked their website, appears to be about $190 a night (checked for July, I'm sure it varies.)

Gaylord is a privately owned public facility. In other words, they have open restraurants, bars, shops, and other amenities that you may patronize, spend your money, and enjoy. Having a room there is not required.

If you are going to do photo shoots for profit, you may want to contact them to see if they have any guidelines or restrictions.

They are in business to serve their paying customers, room rent or not.

That said, I set up a photo shoot for a group of forum photogs during the Christmas decoration time, contacted them, and they were glad to have us, tripods and all. Only a very few of us had rooms there. We had a great time, and there are so many people no one knew we were there.

Of course, we were not taking for a profit. One of our group was asked to take some protraits on the spot of a group, and he made a few bucks unplanned.

We saw more than one portrait being taken amoung the decorations by obvious professionals. I have no idea if they had prior permission, but it was going on. Security was right there and didn't stop them.

Bottom line, it's a great place to shoot. If you are going to make some money out of it, you should probably contact them. If you are just shooting for yourself, you will be most welcome in my experience.

Hope this helps.

Oh, I need a vacation!
Me, too!! I emailed this resort about having my daughter's 12 year old birthday party there with a couple of suites or 1 very large suite, but they never even replied back. We had around 18 girls and would have booked however many suites we needed. Oh, well. We decided it was best not to do that anyway. I would still like to get out there sometime. I've heard it's awesome!

This is an amazing place for photos. My uncle's company in Oklahoma built all the interior "theme" doors (all the wood ones) and they are a great part of the setting for photos.

I've only been there once to have dinner and took lots of photos with no problem - no inquiries. I agree that if you're doing a paid project you should check with them first. We wouldn't want the access limited in the future.

As far as rates go... if you sign up for their email list online at their site you will get specials about 1 x per month for $99/rooms. Not a bad price for a nice place to stay and a nice place to shoot - in the room and out of the room.
