Hi,

I want to create a hard copy portfolio and wanted to know if any to these photos could be used to create the portfolio?

Also should there be any caption or text on the portfolio photos e.g. date, location, etc

Thanks in advance for your help

It's kinda hard to tell since the photos are so small. How about picking some of your favorites and posting those in a larger format?

Question Cropping - 08-16-2006, 11:54 PM

I'm no expert and am only a fellow experimenter. The picture above, and many in your online album, might be enhanced through just a little post processing. Cropping, for example, brings about a yet better composition. This is a quick example; of course, you'll want to work with the original, out-of-the-camera files.

Good luck.

Bruce,

Thanks for your input. Are there any rules for cropping? What other enhancements could be done to the images? Also when putting together a hard copy of portfolio should there be any text or info on the photos?

Thanks,
Don

Don
What would you use this portfolio for ??? Are you looking for a photographer job, interested in showing your work in galleries, selling photos, or just a means to show your friends what you have done ??

Tom,

I would use the portfolio:
1. Getting photographer (eventually once my skills get better)
2. Showing potential clients (I design full color business card and promotional flyers business and sometimes I incorporated pictures I have taken into the designs)
3. Maybe further down the road maybe selling photos.

IMO: Just print the images and place in portfolio. If you need a coversheet or doc. do that separately. Putting text on the image looks like someone forgot to turn off the Time/Date stamp on the P&S..

This is how we do our ports.

Andrew,

Thanks for the reply. As far as the prints go should I print them on my HP Photo printer (using photo paper) are should I send them off to be printed; does it make a difference either way?

For a portfolio, I'd send them off for sure unless you have a higher end printer. We print many of ours on Epson R2400's and they come out nice. However, for customer prints or prints on Metallic paper (which looks cool btw), we most always send off to the lab. Look at WHCC or MPIX for examples.

To me: That is the best/funniest movie ever. Of course, being a former touring musician makes me partial. hehe
