Just read about the green line and I don't see why it will take almost 3 years to get the line from Downtown to Fair Park open. It is along old rail lines with just one bridge to replace (the Good Lattimer Tunnel which was sound since the destruction equipment was setting on the old bridge to tear it it and it was straining yesterday to do its job-yes over 60% of the one side of the tunnel is gone! now.) and the rest with just a couple at grade crossings the rest of it running behind warehouse buildings. We are talking about only 3 miles or so! It's not like DART isn't in the area since their main DEPOT for the rail line is just off of 2nd Ave SW of Fair Park. They are already tearing up the crossing at Main near Exposition and are tearing out all of the old trail rail lines between downtown and Fair Park (BTW those rail lines still were used on occasion by the Rail Road Museum at Fair Park which is the reason that the crossing equipment at Main was still installed! Don't know what the RR Museum will do when this line is taken out since I believe it is the only line leading to the Museum). |
