What do the two hyphenated names mean Bruce? 'Owner-Builder' per chance???

. . . the first two owners. In other words, the original owner and then, the family the first owner sold to. After that, it seems like a no-name free-for-all if the house survives multiple subsequent owners -- which it usually doesn't.

These rare century-old houses usually have survived because of being kept in one or two families for most of their existence -- at least for long enough to achieve historical recognition which then makes their demolition far less likely.
