Civil War re-enactment in Mckinney - 09-03-2006, 01:17 PM

I just heard about this today. There is going to be a Civil War camp and a re-enactment of a small battle at Craigs Ranch in Mckinney on Saturday (09/09). It is open to the public and runs from 9am - 4pm. The battle is going to be at noon. They are expecting 75 re-enactors. I am pretty sure it is free.

The re-enactment area can be reached by driving west on Highway 121, turning north at Alma, then going east at Collin McKinney Parkway. The field where this event will occur is just north of the soccer fields at Craig Ranch , and just northeast of the baseball fields there.

Actually sounds fun. I am glad its during the day, so I will have time to watch the Longhorns get beat by Ohio State.

I live in McKinney, and this should be a great addition to my portfolio. Thanks for the heads-up...

It starts at 9AM with living history talks and demos. The skirmish (not a full on battle) starts at noon.

Here are a couple pictures I shot at the re-enactment. This was fun to watch (and ok, a little educational).
