Anyone want to go to the Plano Balloon Festival on Friday?

I am going either Friday night or Saturday. Have not figured it out yet. Will have to check the weather and winds later in the week.

I want to make sure I get a night glow.
I have been to the Plano festival when the balloons never got off the ground, so I am checking the winds/weather before I drive all the way there.
I am hoping to make Friday night or possibly an all day with a nap... Saturday.

I would like to meet up with someone on the eve of the fireworks and get some prodding and coaching advice. I have never attempted to shoot fireworks before......and yes I will have my tripod and remote shutter release....i.e. have the equip but not the experience.

I will have to go back and review. When are the fireworks? I missed that in looking at the schedule.
There were some helpful blogs on shooting fireworks on this forum just prior to July 4th.
Do a quick search to find them.
The hardest thing I had to learn was setting the ISO at 100. I finally made myself do it.
I loved the result and the total lack of grain in the photographs.
The very, very slow shutter drove me nuts at first, but I prayed the advice was correct and proceeded.
I was very happy with the results.

I have to add that I would rather have photographed them with a nice urban skyline in the background. But, given the location, that was not going to happen. I was so close to the explosions, scrapnel kept falling on me.

I'm part of the group, but may not be able to make it to the balloon festival. There's 14 that have RSVP'd that they're meeting there though. My fiance organizes the group, and we try to get together for photography events like this as much as we can.

Does anyone know where the fireworks are staged and where is the best location to shoot from?
