Its almost gone...... - 10-09-2006, 07:25 PM

Summer comes and then its gone really fast.

You think it will never be over and the heat will go on forever and then it over in a flash.

Nice shots Bruce.
I thought I read that Lake Arlington was closed due to low water. But obviously not now.

True Bill. But I recall having to mow my lawn in January too, because that year, (1972) Summer just wouldn't go away.

Talking Four Seasons - 10-09-2006, 08:57 PM

I've heard it said that in north Texas, we have four seasons just like everybody else:

Almost Summer
Summer
Still Summer
Christmas

Lake is open they just closed off some boat ramps in one area because of low water levels.

I actually saw a guy one year doing a photo shoot for a magazine and the girls were in bikinis at White Rock Lake in late Jan early Feb but then I also walked out about 30 ft on White Rock one January when we had about 150 hours of subfreezing weather and the lake was freezing over, people were actually ice skating on Bachman Lake!

Remember as a kid on Halloween that it was maybe 85 the day before but by the time it was to get out and trick or treat it would be 40 with a 20 mph wind blowing straight from Canada!

There are only 2 seasons here HOT and warm. It doesn't get cold! and there isn't a spring or fall. The native Texans who wear their eskimo jackets when it gets below 70 kill me! I just can't help but to laugh! I wear shorts well into the 60's.

As is said in Motorcycle talk...Texas has a '10 month riding season'. The two un-ridable months are July and August!
