FC Dallas Soccer Clinic - 10-12-2006, 10:43 PM

My 7 year-old attended a soccer clinic at our local YMCA tonight. Several team members from FC Dallas were there to help the kids with drills and exercises. The kids had a great time and the team members/representatives were so wonderful with them. They signed autographs for the children and were very encouraging. I snapped a few pictures before the sun went down and thought I'd share.

This was an opportunity for me to try out the new camera and I think I will like it once I get used to it. The 24mm is a plus, and I like the fact that it's very portable. Some things I really don't like but I think overall it's a good little P&S.

Looks like you and the kids had a good time.

(incidentally, the 12-24 is rapidly becoming my most fun lens... there's just something about cranking it to 12mm on a 1.3x crop body and framing photos with the lens hood. )

My daughter plays for the FC Dallas Youth Academy as a U-8. They have clinics on Friday evenings over at Pizza Hut Park for FCD Academy players. Good quality instruction and a very well run club IMHO.

Nice shots.

Cute shots. It's great to see the players out there with the kids! One thing I LOVE about the MLS is how much you see the players out in the community working with the kids. I know my two train once a week with some of the Dynamo players. It's such a treat for them to get to work with professional players and all of the ones we've had experience with have been awesome trainers!

Scott, Don Garber is supposed to announce on Nov 11 at PHP an MLS wide academy program. That means we should be getting an academy program down here, too. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out!

I agree with Wendy and that's EXACTLY what the sport needs if it's to rise to the level it holds every where else in the world here in the US.

I hope the Dynamo program works as well as our version does here in Dallas. Last year we were with the United FC and well, I doubt Manchester really cares about what happens in North Texas, if you know what I mean...
