WOW! - 05-02-2005, 10:08 PM

Mike and I just got back from the seeing Leslie's presentation at the Hope Camera Club.....Wow!
It started with Leslie filling us in with some of the adventures (and misadventures) she had encountered while shooting in Haiti. Totally engrossing. You couldn't help but to be drawn in to the story although you knew that she only had time to share only a tiny bit of what she had seen.

And then...they showed her photos. So powerful. So emotional. Not only were the photos perfect, critically, but they drew you in. You felt like you were part of the photos. You felt like, and wanted to, reach out and hug the children she photographed. You recoiled from the violence and death she portrayed. You felt in some small way you got a REAL glimpse into these peoples lives.

All I can say is WOW. I was blown away. I have been a fan of Leslie's since I first checked out her PBASE site some six months ago, but having finally met her, having listened to her stories of Haiti, I am in awe. She is one fantastic woman.

Cindy has summed up the stunning impact of Leslie's photojournalistic work, but as interesting possibly is the artist herself. Here Leslie is in what I deduce is not an isolated camera-shy moment. (Sorry, Leslie, but inquiring minds want to know.)

I really enjoyed the presentation Leslie. Some stunning shots you have there. You are one brave young lady! Keep up the good work, but be careful.

Cindy, wow, that is quite a compliment! Thank you so much! I'm glad you guys seemed to enjoy it. I felt it was lacking a lot of emotional impact, but I really appreciate everyone's kind words! Hopefully, I'll get a lot better stuff during the elections. BBurton, I knew you were going to post a pic! I hate being in front of the camera! Thanks again guys for coming out!!!

Well, in all fairness then, here's a totally candid shot of Leslie when she's not aware of being photoghraphed. Her expression is from the shock of seeing how tall Cindy Crabb is  The handsome man keeping an eye out behind Leslie is her supporting husband, Scott; behind him is just a darkened room . . .

Fat? You look fat in these pictures?

You can't be more than a bag of bones if this is fat.

Maybe in the summer (when I'm here!) ... during the school year, Monday nights are for Girl Scouts.

Awe, come on Leslie, you're great in front of the lens too!

I wish I could have made it last night. Your work is really outstanding! It was a pleasure meeting you at the Tiger shoot.

Hey Scott,
It was great meeting you, too! How come my mouth is always open when everyone shoots me? Me and my big mouth, always talking to people or even the lions. Just can't shut me up!
