I have an assignment coming up (and this is something I have been wanting to do for a while) where I need to take a twilight skyline pic. I live west of Fort Worth so I would prefer not to go to Dallas. I know of one place on I-30 east of downtown on a hill but the view isn't exactly striking and I don't really want to park on the freeway after dark. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

If you want "twilight," as you say, locate west of downtown with the setting sun behind you, and with good reflections off of the downtown buildings.
The front steps of the Amon Carter Museum offer a pretty good vantage with plenty of people around.
Good luck. | | | |

not exactly twilight, but you can see what the skyline looks like from the steps of the Amon Carter Museum.

This was from the bridge over the railway on Westbound Belknap street. You have to park at the gas station/Sonic and walk back to middle of bridge... there is a decent sidewalk along the bridge. As you would be facing west/ southwest, for a twilight shot you would want to shoot immediately after sunset, or a few minutes later.... I personally think this is one of the best angles from which to capture the Fort Worth skyline.
Edit: That was on WESTbound Belknap, but on NORTHEAST side of downtown, just west of I-35W

Beautiful shot with the river reflection.... I so love night skylines.... was wondering if anyone ever found a good place to get a shot from the north looking south... the view as you come over the hill southbound on i-35w is spectacular at night.

I found another good spot to get a skyline pic.... go to Harris Medical Center Hospital... they have a massive 11 story parking garage. The shot will be facing north towards downtown. After school hours, you can park across the street (can't rememeber the name) on the east side of the garage in the parking lot of either a tech school there or some other small businesses (an insurance agency or a lawyer's office, I think) then you won't have to pay for parking.

Does that Holiday Inn have a parking garage? I be a little scared to be out there with any expensive equipment on a side street or I35 for that matter.

I've past by this spot several times, but I never had my camera and it was always like straight up noon so the lighting was not very good. I've been meaning to go there at dusk for a while now. If you do use this spot let me know how your pics turn out!

I've heard about the Harris Methodist garage, but have never tried myself. Cynthia did share her spot with me and we met to take this pic. You do exit Northside and go across the river (you can park under Northside Drive) and go down by the river. Great location. Wouldn't suggest it on the weekend but during the week was great. Felt completely safe. Obviously, this location is still looking south onto downtown.
BTW - thanks to everyone who shared their locations/shots with us! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
