Bush in Dallas on Nov 6 2006

Just to give all of the Dallas area Photogs and PJs a heads up that Bush will be in town for a rally the night before the election. He will be at Reunion for a statewide rally. I know from my contacts that protests are in the works.

This will probably be a BIG DEAL with all sorts of VIPs out and about for it.

Suprised that they are using ReUnion, guess the AA was already booked for a game.

Wonder how much they are paying to rent it out?

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I try to keep people updated. The link below is an article about his visit. If you know the Bush camp they like to keep things hush hush about visits but since this is an heated vote this year they are putting him out there.

Last time he did this was in 2004 when he was running for his job again. He came to SMU and his visit lasted from 10pm to midnight that night. Over 2000 protesters showed up and stayed until midnight. I think this year it would be as big or bigger. As I said I will keep everyone updated and hope to see everyone out there.

Here are the details on the protest from my contacts:

Protesters will meet and stage at Ferris Plaza between 2pm and 3pm.

Protesters will march down to Reunion and protest in front of the arena. The protest will take place from 4-8pm or longer.

Dallas Police DSS will be blocking most of the area so DART is the way to go.

Dallas Police contacts are telling me that they are preparing for over 5000 protesters.

Well looks like a LONG day, getting downtown around 2:30 or so and staying till the end since some of the crazier stuff can happen once the "inside of the arena" activities end and the people are exiting.

Even if a third of that many protestors show up it will mean a LOT OF PHOTO OPS!

My city contacts are telling me that they are planning for this event like the did the Mega March back in April when half a million showed up.

Came across that there is supposed to be a dinner function/cocktails at the Hyatt after the deal in ReUnion. Would not be suprised if a lot of people will be parking at the Hyatt and then proceeding to the arena.

There will be little parking. Dallas Police is blocking all traffic at that end of the CBD and is closing the Houston Street bridge.
