Tiger Shoot - 10/28/06

Hey all,

First off, huge thanks (once again) goes out to Tom Hicks and Trey Neal for their continued support. We had a very large group today and the people at Pug Mug were very happy to see the support.

I thought I'd throw out the first post since I was the one holding everyone up while I installed the remote in the tree.

The remote experiment (take II) was again, flawed (by me). Two things to conquer: Light (Trey suggests putting a remote SB-800 or two in the tree as well) and how to keep the enticing meat out of the shot... Sheba's eyes look black because there was very little light at the time. It makes for a cool effect.

Anyway, here's one from the tree and one of Sheba run'n around:

Nice work Joe. I think the next time you'll have it nailed but these worked out pretty good too. Might have to remote tether to a laptop so you can see the results earlier while still in the tree. You've been wanting that wireless transmitter for the D2X, i know :)

Very nice Joe and I second the appreciation. So much fun today and a great group of people! I haven't really had a chance to go thru my shots but will, hopefully, soon.

Aw, heck, Joe.... why don't you just climb the tree yourself and do the shoot manually.

Oh, wait.... Tigers can climb trees, can't they?

Well, you'd save having to use a meat lure!


That second shot is my favorite--beautiful lighting. What lens did you use? It would be nice to be able to throw the background out of focus, but depending on the situation, that might not have been possible...

That second shot was with the 85mm f/1.4. Shot at 1/800 f/3.3 (speed priority). With that lens you really only get one, maybe two sharp shots as it is slooooooow to focus. Will work on the backgound some...
