Hook me up, please! - 11-07-2006, 02:11 PM

I have a concept, model, and wardrobe, but need a location.

I'm looking for anyone who might have an inside track for permission to shoot inside an empty theater or performance hall. High on my list are classic venues like Bass Hall, The Meyerson, The Majestic Theater, etc. I can and will certainly cold call the operations folks at these and other venues, but of course an inside name or friend would greatly help my chances of being successful. I certainly can't afford commercial rates, and would be more than willing to provide images to the venue. This will be a high fashion shoot and extremely tasteful. In other words, no nekid ladies or other unseemly content.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hey Scott, I may have access to a theater for you - but it would be end of this week or the first part of next week before I can even ask (owner's out of town).

Do you have a time line or just whenever?

I'm in no rush. In fact, I'd like to make a dry run to see what equipment I'll need given the space, then I can plan the shoot with the model and the owner.

You rock!!!

I could probably get you into the Campus Theater in Denton. It used to be a movie theater, but now it is used by the community theater group. They always rehearse in the evening so it is usually unused in the daytime. They are between productions right now so I don't know if set construction has started yet. You would probably need to make a contribution to the theater group to cover utilities.

You rock!!!

I'm supposed to shoot a musician in this theater in the near future, but from what I understand, there's some construction going on. I'll know more on Friday, and I'll PM you with info then. :)

Scott,

Don't know if this would work for you, but maybe the Odeum theater in Whitewright might accomodate you during non-show times. It's a renovated old theater. Might want to give them a call. http://www.whitewright.com/Shopping/...theaterpg1.htm

There's an old movie theater in Garland now used for concerts and the like- I don't know anyone there, or rates- but another possibility.
