I would bet that the lighting is superb in there since it is a newer hall and part of it's design was to handle these sorts of concerts vs the Myerson which concentrated more on the sound quality.
Parking is right across the street.

Leslie, there is a large parking garage next to Bass Hall. It's also Bass Property and patrolled by the Bass Police. Well lighted and safe.

Directions:Patron Parking
Patrons who do not wish to utilize our quick and courteous valet service are welcome to park in Carter-Burgess Parking Garage located between Calhoun and Commerce Streets, with entrances on 5th and 6th Streets.

More info on the Bass Hall website: http://www.basshall.com/thehallpublic.jsp

You'll love the Bass Hall, it's a fabulous place and they put on some great shows.

Good luck.

Leslie,

You can Park at the Star-Telegram for free and walk the few blocks to the Bass if you wish. Or park there and then come back to the paper to turn out your photos.

You will need to come by the photo desk at the paper before you go to the event. Trust me on this. Some times they make you shoot from the back of the hall in the sound booth so you will not bother any of the paying folks. I have not seen the assignment so am not sure how it reads. They will lead you around and tell where you can shoot from. And some times even have you shoot with a blimp which we have at the office. See me or call me later tomorrow after I get to work at 4pm.

Leslie,

Parking in the Bass Garage is free on nights and weekends. It is right across the street from Bass Hall. Normally, there is plenty of parking.
Lighting is fair - take a "fast" lens. Lighting is better than most venues, but there are hot spots and dark spots, depending on how they choose to light an event.
Good luck and have fun.

Donna

Wow! Thanks so much everyone for the information! Milton, I will give you a call and plan to come by the office at around 6:30 or whenever I get in the area, depending on traffic. Thanks, guys!
