yeah. . . I was the only person there at the time. . . When you're taking the photo you don't know they're waving at you because obviously through the viewfinder it's rather small and you're concentrating on keeping the jet on the center focus point. . .then you review it in the car and "HEY!, he was waving at me!"

How do you know when to go? I've sat out on the turnout area (off the spur) several times and nothing ever took off. I tried calling them and ask if the knew, but of course they wouldn't tell me.

lol. . . you called who? ya kinda need to park for a few hours. . . .and that is no guarantee. . . but most any weekday something is flying. . . .weekends are slow and so are days before any government holiday. . .

Well, when I go out to lunch I usually see them flying around, but I can't spend my lunch hour in my car on the side of the road with my camera hoping to catch them, so it's the weekend or nothing.

I called the air station once. I even tried picking up their freq on my police scanner. I went out there once on a saturday for a couple of hours and a cop came by and told me to move along.

What kind of lens do you use? 400?

I shoot small fighters with a 300 and bigger planes with a 70-200. the tower frequencies are either 120.950 or 269.325 Weekends are not the best time since most of the reserve squadrons are off duty. . . there may be some traffic but not much. Here are some other freq. you may try. . .
