Longboarding Skatepunks - 11-13-2006, 08:39 PM

Joe and his buddies all got caught up recently in the "longboarding" craze. These huge skateboards are around 44 inches long and can pick up quite a bid of speed in a hurry. They remind of the skateboards we used to build out of wood planks and old skates back in the day.
I'm just glad they found something that gets them outside exercising instead of up in their rooms playing computer games!

After watching a few skaters land on railings the wrong way, I'm glad my kids stuck with video games. Maybe I'll have grandchildren...

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Send them to Park City Utah. Those guys fly down the roads everywhere, ignoring every street sign and constantly dodging cars. Then they skitch a ride back up to the top and do it all again! I love it.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

I hear ya! I have begged these kids to wear protective gear, but they think they are indestructible. If were to put my foot down, the gear would come off as soon as I was out of range.

At least these big boards are more for "cruising" than doing tricks on, so there are no rails involved here (at least not yet).

As you can tell, I don't go outside and play on skateboards. Maybe I should...

Silvernic,
Those are snowboards, not longboards. And they are dodging trees, not cars. Or at least... that's what they think. :)
