My wife and I took a trip to Fort Worth this weekend to visit the zoo and see Josh Gracin at Billy Bob's. The weather was very overcast during the day and I thought my photos wouldn't be impressive, but I think they came out pretty nice. Here's a sampling of the shots I took (the order of the shots represents the order taken throughout the day). Feedback is always appreciated.
#1 Non-traditional shot of a flamingo.
#2 Gorilla...showing off.
#3 This orangutan was throwing water up at the visitors.
#4 A lazy 'roo.
#5 A bald eagle (I performed a little PS work to blur and overlay the background to get rid of the netting)
#6 It was a lazy day all around the zoo...we caught this big guy during a nap.
#7 The angles on the white tigers were really bad where they were hanging out and this was on the only salvagable shot I pulled off.
#8 Our friend, the meerkat. There must have been a memo handed out to the animals yesterday about not being too active...I didn't get one shot of a meerkat standing up.
#9 A hippopotomus, like an iceberg, has 90% of it's bulk under the water.
#10 Josh Gracin put on a great show...too bad I only brought my 50mm lens with me. I thought that I would need an ultra-fast lens, but turns out the best shot I got was this one (ISO 800, 1/100th @ f/3.2) so I could have brought my 28-135.
