There is usually a somber ceremony every year at the Plaza on Nov 22 that starts before noon and ends around the time of the assasination.
Weather looks good so I plan to make it out.
Last time I went was in 03 for the 40th annivesary. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Made it out to the memorial today at noon, decent crowd and a few speakers on a nice day.

Paul, you did a good job capturing this event. It's difficult, after 43 years, to "feel" much anymore. But, when I was a sophomore in college (1963) and for many years afterwards, there were emotions aplenty. | | | |

Wasn't really a whole lot to capture, I'm loading some pics of the Memorial and down in Oak Cliff of the Texas Theatre right now. (I was going to shoot the route that Lee Harvey Took from where he shot Officer Tippit on 10th Street and Patton but I forgot what the cross street was and ended up going down the wrong way down 10th-will get back there Friday and cover that route and the location of his Boarding House on N Beckley-have that address now). | | | |

Very nice Paul. I had thought about going over there but didn't. I was 4 in November of '63. I can remember standing on the front porch with my mother while watching Air Force One pass overhead after leaving Carswell AFB heading for Dallas. | | | |

OK has any of our Ft Worth Crew gone out to try to find the house that Oswald rented for a while back behind the old Montgomery Ward building? I know that area was torn up by the tornado a few years back but not sure if that house was lost or not. I believe they were in the house in 1962 because he was married already and they were there for many months. Also I know that Oswald is burried in a cemetary in Ft Worth.

I think at one time he and his wife lived on Mercedes Street. . . just west of the old Montgomery Wards. As for his wife Marina, I have not heard anything of her in at least 10 years. | | | |

I believe she is still here in the Metroplex and has been low key since he was exhumed several years ago for some tests.
She would be around 64 or so now since she was 19 when they married in 61. | | | |

I went out to that cemetery several years ago to look up the stone. I went in the funeral home and asked for the location. The fellow there was very polite, but said the family had asked them not to give out information on it, and had even threatened to have his body moved if they did. As he said, "It's a public park, and you're welcome to look around, but we can't give you any information on it." I walked around a bit without spotting it and headed back to the house.
Well, I went back to the internet and did a bit of research and ran across a really interesting article about Oswald's older brother that lived in Wichita Falls. It was interesting to see things from his perspective and to see what an emotional burden that had been on him through the years (and FWIW, he had no doubts his brother had done it- thought he was off his rocker.)
Just recently, I was talking to a friend that drives hearses and limousines. He was telling about being shown the site when he was out there a while back.
---------------------------
I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Found out on the news last night that the Piano that John Lennon wrote Imagine on, the most expensive piece of rock and roll memorabilia ever purchased, was there at the plaza. I think I actually saw part of the crate leaning against the edge of one of the walls of Dealey Plaza when I walked back to shoot the old RxR switching tower, thought it was odd that the lumber was there, but never actually noticed that the piano was there. George Michael had it flown into Dallas from England to have photos taken of it at Dealey Plaza that day and the local news said that he had paid over $2 million for it at auction several years ago. They also said that it was uncrated for only a short time for the photographer to do his shoot (no lights/umbrellas were used) with just his camera (looked like a Hasselblad in the news clip). http://www.myfoxdfw.com/myfox/pages/...Y&pageId=3.2.1
