Any idea about how well this photographs since it will be dark?
(I'm working up todays Christmas Parade from Downtown Dallas right now and not sure if this would be worth driving out too).

No idea, Paul. There will be a lot of decorated vehicles, which will be the only light available (maybe some street lights too). I'm going to try my 85 1.8 at 1600 and see what happens.

I'm going to pass on it this time. Good Luck and hopefully you will find a spot where the floats stop for a few seconds for you.

Did anybody make a similar Parade in Ft Worth last week?

It wouldn't have been worth the drive for you. I fired off about 60-65 frames and will post a couple in a few minutes after I wade through and throw most of them out.

Yeah it looked like a real local parade and not one that the city puts a lot of extra funds into running.
I would like to make the Ft Worth one some year, just had some things that happened this year to not allow me to make it.

It would have been much better if they'd had it during the day so everyone could see what was going on. They had it at night last year too, but I didn't go. Tonight's was a first for me. It was nice but a waste of time, photographically speaking.

I was just out on a social call in Wylie, and they were having their night-time parade tonight. I saw one of the floats leaving, and it was all lit up with Christmas lights. I doubt it's a good opportunity for "good" pictures, but it can be fun taking not-so-good ones as well. Garland had a parade scheduled for Thursday, but it was postponed due to weather and will go this Tuesday evening.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.
