OK I have an idea for a multiple stop photo late day on into the night on Saturday.
People start off at the Sons of Herman Hall for the Randy Brodnax Art Show *I have a link up- it is open till 6 on Sat, then go about the 1/2 mile to Fair Park to see the lighted area *we can car pool and park on the street and then walk a block or so.
Then go from there back to the Sons of Herman Hall to get the other cars and then go down to Neimans to shoot the Windows (I will have an album up tommorrow- parking around that area is free)
then go to the Curtain Club at 9 pm to Shoot the Rock Show! There is a city lot that is reasonable to pay to park and it has a free shuttle that runs past the club. We could eat before or after the Neimans shoot if people would be hungry or like I mentioned about the art show there is some great food there that is very reasonable. Or if people like Pizza there is a great pizza place , Franzini's a couple blocks walk from the club where you can grab a slice for about $2.
Yeah it would be a long night but people could come and go for whatever part of it that they want to participate in.
Neimans does their windows up great for Christmas Downtown and they really outdid themselves this year- say a tree with $1,000,000 on it! About a dozen Windows with high end fashion manequins that look almost like real models! (just bring a fast lens-I used a 2.8 with the camera at 200 ISO and was shooting my 20-35mm hand held -will see how they came out later- you don't want flash because of the window glass reflection).
So we have all sorts of things to shoot or see and it could be one great fun night with Drinks along the way! | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Well I already have the plans for Curtain Club... If you want tix. I need your money no later than Friday afternoon. I don't know what the deal is at the door, if you can get them there or not. I have always gotten mine from the band. They actually normally meet me in Lewisville. tix are $10... As for the rest of the day I will see if I can make it. I'm planning a birthday party for my son who is turning 5 next week and his party is on Sunday.

OK. I just got off of the phone with the bassist (louis) of IMI. He said that the Curtain club normally charges $3.00 over what you would pay with the band. They are giving me tix tomorrow afternoon. If you want them let me know or you can get them at the door. If you do so and if the doorperson asks who you are there to see, please tell them IMI. PM if you want tix

Man I am going to have to reshoot most of the Display windows at Neimans- they are harder to shoot than you think. Will have to think about how to do this better, do know that I need to kill the auto focus-picking up on the glass and not the menequins which are about 4-6 ft behind the glass-hence all just softly out of focus or push the F stop up to get more DOF. Also all sorts of hot spots that you have to worry about- lots of things painted GOLD, this is going to be a challenge!!!

Well I know I will be at the art show- may go over to Fair Park to check out the Kwanza thing earlier in the day- so if you think you may be interested in this let me know if you will be at the SOHH by 6 (which is dark now) and then we can get an idea on how many will be heading over to the Fair Park Lights, then if you want to meet us for the Neimans stage I would guess we would be over there around 7 to shoot- there are some other downtown Christmas shots available but not a whole lot.
West End has one Tree type light set up, no tree at City Hall, Did not check out the Adams Mark Hotel, Minimal lights on the Adolphus, Not much at the Farmers Market at night and just about Main Street and right around Neimans are there any street decorations to speak of.

The Continental Gin Galleries are also open tommorrow at the same time as the Gary Broudnax show at the Sons of Hermans Hall- They are at 3309 Elm Street just down and across the street from the Hall. There are some very good artists in there.
For example Ty Milner http://swgallery1.reachlocal.com/cou...erv=swgallery1 has his studio there and the photos on the site do not do his work justice-I was looking at Katrina about an hour ago and talking with him and the detail and his use of light is just amazing.
There are some photographers in the studio there also, one that some here know- Leroy Roper who does some great work with body painting.
