The whole Arcadia Theatre Block is Being Dozed Tommorrow - 12-11-2006, 11:52 PM

After the big theatre fire in June only one business opened and that was at the end of the group of buildings. They had there last day on Sunday and they had a trash the place party where they busted mirrors on the wall and other things. I tried to get a shot of that damage but no real luck through the craked front door. Right before they doze the place tommorrow morning I will see if they will open the door and allow me to take a couple quick pics before they doze the building.

The demoliition could start as early as 7 am.

I plan to get there early. The angel painting on the side of the building can not be saved so I took many pics of it today. They removed the last Arcadia Sign today to save that at least. So the whole block is going to be raised.

We may soon find out if the rumour is true of an old tunnel that went under the street that connected a bar with another across the street.

Well I was out there from before 6:30 am until 4:15 and the part of the building with the Angel painting was still left standing until tommorrow but all the other structures from the old Syn Bar up to the south wall where Condom Sense was are now demolished and several tractor trailer loafs of Brick and steel have already been removed.

The demolition guys found some bricks marked Acme Brick with a date of Jan 8, 1924 etched into them.
I will be going back tommorrow morning to finish the shoot and I will be adding the demolition photos to my Arcadia Fire Album on Pbase. The head Contractor over the project of demolition found my pics online last night and said that I did a great job of covering the fire *he had also arrived at the fire but later into the fire than when I arrived.
