Yeah this low cloud deck would kill any shows but has anyone heard of any displays celebrting the new year? Dallas has tried to have something the last few years, different promoters/developers doing them and they have all usually lasted at most 2 years but I have not heard of any this year.

So anybody hear anything?

Or is this going to be just a gunfire in the air year.

Have not heard any of the Public Service Messages this year yet about not shooting guns in the air. BTW why do those idiots do that?

From a Dallas Fire-Rescue Press Release:

Dallas Fire Officials to Monitor
“New Years” 2007 Fireworks Activities

Dallas Fire-Rescue will monitor two fireworks displays celebrating New Years 2007.

The first fireworks display will take place at the Lakewood Country Club located at 6430 Gaston Ave, on December 31 at midnight.

The second fireworks display on January 1, 2007, will take place in the Trinity River Bottoms between the I-35 Bridge and the Corinth St. Bridge.

FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL IN DALLAS
Dallas Fire-Rescue wants to remind everyone that fireworks are illegal in the City of Dallas and up to 5,000 feet outside the city limits. Anyone caught possessing or using fireworks in the city will be fined up to $2,000 in addition to getting their fireworks confiscated.

A photo project that I never have gotten around to is photographing fireworks stands themselves. They always have neat contrasty stark lighting that should look cool in either B&W or color- photographed at night, of course. Plus a kind of Route-66 look to a lot of them.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

Totally forgot about the Lakewood show which is less than a couple miles from me.
Had not heard of the T Bottoms show before, wonder who is sponsoring it and if you can get some good angles to include downtown in the background?
