Gaylord Texan Star - C&C welcome - 12-31-2006, 08:36 PM

Rather than embarass myself by posting some of my ICE shots, here is one I took in the lobby and want to see which people prefer. (taking photos in the ICE exhibit (9 degrees) while escorting a newborn, an almost 3 year old, a 5 year old, and a wife that thinks 65 degrees is cold is not recommended for good photos. :-) )

#2)

I think I prefer the 1st one. However, I think it is cool that you notice the yellow tint in the second one first and then your eye finds it in the first one. Maybe there is some way I should do these together.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Alan

I like em both. I think the only suggestion would be to straighten just a hair (rotate counter clockwise).

Thanks!! I looked at that, but when I tried it the horizontal of the star was so strong that it was overpowering. Perhaps I should rotate it a bit the other way so that it doesn't seem like it is accidentally off. Hmmm.

Here is the rotated one so everyone can see it:

You'll notice that the star becomes stronger, but the symmetry of the posts coming out of the corners is lost.

I agree on number 1 as well. However, I liked the non-rotated version as the outer ring (girders) is symetrical in the shot.

#1 is my favorite, with the metal beams squared with the pic frame. Too bad the architect could not have designed the star to be in better alignment with the beams.

TexasWolfLady- when I shot the star.... I laid down on the floor (so I wouldn'd fall on my ass). Also did the same thing at the state capital for the rotunda star (got some strange stares there).
