Warehouse Photographic, Arlington Camera and Barry's Cameras(now Wolf/Ritz) were mainstays for many years. Although I rarely bought from Warehouse because they didn't carry Minolta equipment, it is sad to see them leave the market.

Regarding warehouse photographic - the hours drove me nuts there, I could never get to it during the week. The folks were usually cool there, sometimes not. But sadly, they RARELY had anything I was looking for. I actually got a nice sized gift certifcate to there from a friend once, and tho I wanted to put it towards a lens, it cost SOOO much more there, that it didn't make sense to buy it from there, it would have been throwing money away. It took me a while to use it up, as they didn't have the things I really wanted, and because of their difficult hours.

Regarding competetive camera - they are ok with me. I'd rather have a store that knows exactly what they have, knows what I need, and is willing to do a fast transaction, cuz I'm usually rushing anyway. I'm not there to socialize, after all. I don't think I've ever gone there looking for something that they didn't have in stock, no matter what price tag. And yes, as a professional, I'm tax exempt. I don't think it's so much a bad attitude towards people as it is a business approach. If you ask them a dozen questions, they WILL answer each one, and you can count on them knowing what they're talking about, too. If you need to discuss something in more detail, you can always ask them, what is a less busy time for them, and go back and spend more time chatting with them about stuff - they have done that for me when I asked. I know I'm not their only customer, and I appreciate that their brevity results in quicker service for everyone. I mean, let's face it, we'd all sit there and gab all day if we could...right? The high volume that they do results in lower prices, so I'm ok w/ it.

Wow, I hadn't thought about "Barry's Cameras" and didn't realize it was now Wolf. That's where I bought my K1000 long ago, the one I'm still using.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

They are not rich, I'd call them "middle class", they own a 6 year old home with a very small mortgage in a nice part of North Texas.

There will always be good jobs for those who put themselves in positions to get them. The unemployment rate is close to an all time low....
I would guess that she started working there before Sam died... Back when they promoted selling "Made in the USA" products. I think he'd roll-over in his grave if he knew how the business is run these days...regardless of profit margin. But.. anyway...Nothing more than a discussion here..I hope I don't come across as bitter. LOL
