Couldn't take it anymore! - 01-14-2007, 07:03 PM

Well, after the the last GTG I just couldn't take it anymore. So many nice toys.. all these "digital" people showing off their instantly viewable pictures in their little LCD screens.....

SOO whilst buying some B&W film for my TLR.. I had a *slight* impulse buy...

And since the weather stinks outside, I was forced to conscript models around the house...namely my girlfriends pets and foliage...

Her blind pitbull -

Size: 156.4 KB

Her pet turtle "flash" -

Size: 97.3 KB

And an unsuspecting rose -

Now all I have to is figure out how to REALLY use this thing....but after playing with it for 12 hours...I think I'm in love....

Very cool. I love impulse buying (my bank account doesn't.) You're going to love the new toy. Cool pic of "Flash." Painter turtle?

I think the turtle is called a "red-eared slider".....no clue tho, I'm not up on my turtle fauna..

Well, I thought it would be cool to load up a couple of cameras with B&W film and go shoot some railroad tracks behind my girlfriend's house.. With the dreary weather and all, I thought it'd make some interesting pics...so we're buying a few rolls of Ilford and of COURSE I have to go and fondle the D200 for a bit....

So she started in with "Just buy it so you'll stop moaning and b!tching and showing me pictures of it in magazines..."

What can I say? She's the smarter one.... ;-)

D.

I'm amazed at the quality of the pics.. that turtle headshot was cropped from this:

Name: turtle 4.jpg
Views: 4
Size: 68.2 KB

AND I was shooting through the glass of her aquarium with the built in flash (so that explains the water spots..)

It's a heck of a camera!

cool Daylon.
I am a little jealous, but I am sure you will love the D200 especially when you connect that 70-200 VR on it :)

Can't wait! I've noticed some blurring at the far end of the zoom.. not sure if that's due to my inexperience (probably) or because the lens I have isn't VR...

Now if I can just figure out what these OTHER 900 buttons, dials and switches on the thing do....

I figured a good starting point was Ken Rockwell's d200 user guide.. it's a good quick setup tutorial. So I went through all that... now I guess it's just go out and shoot like crazy...

I think the next purchase will be the sb-800 speedlight and a gary fong diffuser....
