Not sure about the rules of photography for a public event like this but it would be a fun event to photograph if its allowed.

I recall reading about an event where they were looking for photographers with flash cameras. I got the impression that they were really looking for "atmosphere" for a runway type fashion event. I also recall that they wanted all rights to any photos that were taken.

I am wondering if this is the same event ? From the description, it seems like it might fit .

Tom that was one fashion line doing multiple shows all over the DFW area while this looks more like a way that Northpark is trying to showcase the various retailers lines.

I would say email one of the 3 names in the press release and see what they say about photographers, rights, releases etc and what sort of attire they will require for the shooters and how restricted you will be as to locations to shoot from. Looks like they are looking more at selling $$$$$ seating and getting exposure to the deep pockets people than of recording the event itself.

Now if the NP/Buzzell people say if you can get a group of photogs together to do one of the shows then put that info up here on TPF and I am sure we can get several people lined up to shoot the event.

Nice. I'd be willing to make some contacts. I need to shoot some fashion outside of the studio.

Sounds like a good spot for a Holga, actually. : )

Of course I would also like to be considered for this if Scott has any luck in communicating with them.

I think it may be best to leave this in Scotts hands rather than hitting them with a bunch of requests.

That's what I get for opening my big trap...

I'll send some email tomorrow and see what I can do. No promises since I'm no famous runway shooter. Maybe I can get Greg to make a request...

I'm curious about this too...

Just curious, for fashion photography like runway...better to use a prime lens?

I would say depends on where you are and what all you are trying to capture, for me I would have 2 bodies, one with a prime that is sutable for my distance from the runway and what else I want to include in the shot and on the otherbody I would have a fast zoom.

I shot a fashion show a month or so ago. It wasn't elevated and in a fairly cramped gallery so my results although fine, did not have the look I was wanting.. Too many distracting background elements, etc..

I'd be interested in shooting too. but.. I understand the "can of worms".

If I'm in town I would like to attend one of these as well. I've always wanted to shoot a runway fashion show.

Since no one has not followed up on this I thought I would post the info I have. The security company I am an partner for just got a client who wants dignitary protection that will be attending the event.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday and they start about $25.00 a day and an all access pass is around $1,500 a day. I was told by event staff that they will only let photographers in who have press passes and to get an event pass for this event you will have to contact the mall. I hope this helps. Maybe the original poster can get people some press passes.

I hope this helps!
