NHL All-Star Events (starting Saturday the 20th)

I don't know how many hockey fans there are on this board but I love the Dallas Stars and all the local hockey clubs. Anyway, here is some info for Saturday:

I just got back from a birthday party and birthday boy didn't even drink. Ah well. I just have 2 lensii (haha lenses) do shoot with...my kit lens and a 70-200mm f/4.0L. I'll produce some pictures tomorrow. I can't wait to see if Luc Robataille is there tomorrow cause if he is PERFECT! He's my all time NHL player.

I got a ticket for Monday's practice and "salute to a generation of stars" event. I just got a 50mm 1.8 lens for my D70 last week. That should be good enough, shouldn't it? (I'll be on row B, on one of the blue lines)

I found out last night from one of my friends in LA that they're retiring his jersey at the game so he won't be coming to Dallas until tomorrow night at the earliest. Darn...so that made waking up a bit slower this morning since I was going to be at Northpark right now. Anyway, I'm off to the mall. Wish me luck.

I got caught last year on this. AAC policy states no professional cameras or lenses over 4" in length if you don't have media credentials.

I didn't have too much of a problem with my 20D but my 70-300 (non-DO) is 5.6" and they wouldn't let me in.

Professional cameras are prohibited at all events in American Airlines Center unless accompanied by appropriate media credentials. Cameras withouta flash may be allowed for some events. Cameras with lenses that are 4 or more inches in length are NOT allowed. Video cameras and audio recorders are prohibited in American Airlines Center unless specifically approved. Please check in advance by calling 214-665-4299.

Restrictions on the use of still and video cameras vary by event. The event producer determines this policy. Some sporting events permit still cameras without flash, but not recording devices. Concerts typically do not permit any cameras or recording devices (audio or video). Guests should contact an American Airlines Center representative at 214-665-4299 to find out the policy prior to the event.

The Stanley Cup is at Northpark...not the AAC. I'm heading out there in a bit...got caught up with some stuff...pics to follow on Monday since I'm also going tomorrow to get my puck signed by Gordie Howe.

update: So I just got back from Northpark...pictures will be coming up soon (I'm guessing) in the misc category. It isn't exactly hockey. I got to shake hands with Gordie Howe and get an autographed picture from him. That in itself was amazing. had a quick 2 minute conversation with him (since I'm a michigan native not too far from Saskachewa). Also had my picture taken with the Stanley Cup. Pictures are coming soon. I'm so pumped right now, I'm actually going jogging haha. pictures soon! I promise!
