Dallas PPA Monthly Meeting - Feb. 13

The speaker for the month will be Kevin Jairaj and the topis is Shooting Weddings with Flair.

I am thinking I might like to attend the meeting and see what it's all about, get the chance to meet and see Kevin speak. According to http://www.dallasppa.com/ His works have been published in numerous magazines and books around the country and he is also an instructor at the www.photographyallstars.com mentoring website, along with our very own Mike Fulton!

So anyone interested in going to the meeting let me know and maybe we can have a group of TPF'ers meet up!!

Dinner Reservations Required
Reservations are required for you to eat dinner at the monthly meetings.
Reservations must be made by Thursday morning BEFORE each meeting. If you do not have a dinner reservation you may not be able to eat and the price will be the same as a non-member. Please arrive by 7:15 pm if you want to eat dinner and have made a reservation. Arrivals after 7:30 pm cannot be promised dinner. Thank you.

I'm interested in going, but I need to see what day that is and if I have the kiddos that week or not. Also, do you have to be a member of PPA to go?

Feb. 13 is a Tuesday. As far as I know you dont have to even be a member of the DPPA to attend, just have to pay the non-member price. It's a good way to see what the association is all about and can make a more informed choice on joining or not.

be fun to hang out and listen and see everything that goes on. Nice to know a friendly face in a sea of strangers.

Just looked at the calendar, and I don't have the kiddos in the evenings that week; so, count me in! We can also schedule your engagement shoot that evening, and I can get more ideas from Kevin. I've seen his work before, and it's amazing!

I'm hoping to become a little more inspired through others work. I have been feeling stuck lately. So I am hoping that if I am able to listen and learn from others that I admire it can only be a good thing!!

I would love to ride together! And, I hear ya about getting stuck in a rut. Been there! I go through that every couple of months, these days even more often. Sometimes I just get depressed seeing how good others are, but the majority of the time they inspire me. They also can help spark your creativity. I especially love to see people's work, like Kevin, that go beyond the "traditional" look and have more of an editorial and edgy feel to their images.

See that is why I was so excited when I saw that he was going to be speaking. Because I feel stuck in that 'traditional" place, not that it's a bad place, but I dont feel like a traditional type photographer, sure I can make pretty pictures doing that, but I want to create that art and those types of images.

are you guys planning on eating there?? I most likely wont, so what time does the meeting actually start and what time should we meet??

I'd rather not eat there only because it's going to be a long drive at rush hour and I don't know how early my husband can get home. Then again, dinner might be a good networking time. Are we supposed to bring our portfolios or anything to these things? I've never been to one. If we're not eating and dinner ends at 7:15, then I would think that if we're there by 6:45 or so, we should be good, right?? I just emailed the guy it said under tickets so I'll let you know.
