This is a discussion on Warning! within the Dallas / Fort Worth forums, part of the Texas category; I see they have the ad on CraigsList again. This time it says they didn't find anyone in the first ...

I see they have the ad on CraigsList again. This time it says they didn't find anyone in the first round that met their standards.... Or something to that effect. Sounds like they are using applicants as free labor.

I'm gonna memorize this and tell off the next parent who insists that $50 is too much for a 8x10 team photo, 8x10 & 5x7 action shot, and 8x10 & 5x7 pose. I thought it was rather cheap. Then I'll tell em to go in the mall to ABC photos (covering up those Pic People who start at $100) and be happy wit it.

The rate that's been passed around my circle of photographer friends is about $200 for a wedding (all day) or $20-$25 and hour.

This business is really no different that an established studio who hires "assistants" to photograph weddings for them. I seriously doubt those photographers make $500 or more for a day's work. The studio does all the work outside of shooting, so of course they will want to make the profit. And, as in any studio, it is up to the client to put a value on their services and to determine if this "studio" produces $10,000 weddings (and, yes, there are people paying that for wedding photography in the Dallas market)

This sort of job is just a contract laborer job. Take it or leave it. If you do take it, I agree with the part about watching for a non-competitive clause.

damn i am paying to much... i pay about 400 for the second shooter.
Not any longer...
