Arbor Hills Nature Preserve - 02-04-2007, 06:42 PM

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of having to put my little dog to sleep. I must say I have had a really hard time without him and never had a dog bond with me and I to him before.

I decided to take a hike at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve as a way to say my final goodbye to him. It also gave me an opportunity to try out my new Nikon D80 and a nice day finally.

It was pretty dead out there and I could not find much to shoot, but here are few that I took. Moving up from a Kodak DX640, I am just beginning to learn the D80 and have lots to learn as a beginner. I already know that my 18-55mm lens doesn't quite do the job I would have liked, but will have to do until I can get the 18-200mm I want.

Pretty boring in the winter time.

sorry for your loss Charles. they do become close members of the family. Pretty hard not have deep feelings for something that jumps up and down and turns in circles every time you come home from work for 15 years never skipping a day of that greeting routine........ have fun with new camera.

I'm sorry about your dog, Charles. I've only lost one so far, and I'm sure it never gets any easier. Dogs really are amazing.

You captured a nice deep blue sky in that second photo.

Neat place. I ran there quite often when I still lived in West Plano

Thanks for sharing this location. It's a great place to explore.
