Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park - 02-05-2007, 11:49 AM

Took the kids to the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park for my oldest's (6) birthday. They had never been to an aquarium and they were thrilled with what they saw. Here are a few of the better ones from that day. I know these could be better, but would like some suggestions as to make a little better. I have never shot at an aquarium before.

I liked this one.

I have never seen this in person (honest)

Some others I liked

I took my daughter there this past Sat. for her first visit. I must say that the Dallas World Aquarium had way more of her attention than the one at Fair Park. The lighting in there is horrible, even with my 50mm 1.8 i could only get the shutter at 1/60 sec. Those Pacu were gigantic though.

As for your pic size: what size were the photos that you took? And what did you use to shrink em to the size they are?

We were there Sat. Morning (10:00ish). I personally want to see the Dallas World Aquarium, but am afraid that my kids might be scared of the rain forest exhibit. How old is your Daughter? Did she have any problems with DWA?

Image size: I resized in PS to 800X600.

User error. I found the problem, somehow it was loading the thumbnail version

The animals are usually far enough away that they wont scare the kids. I took a friends son and he was only 3 at the time and he LOVED it. Especially the otters. The kids LOVE LOVE LOVE the otters and the otters love the attention. hehehe after an hour and a half I had to peel my friends kiddo away from the otters and he went kickin and screamin. hehehe

My daughter just had her 2nd birthday Jan 20th. She didn't wanna leave DWA. I second the otter exhibit!!! We spent almost an hour there. They kept following her back & forth as she ran along the wall. The sloth is another kid-favorite. It's RIGHT out in the open. No walls, cages...it's just right there hangin on a branch. I got some really good shots from right up on it. We're gonna be passin thru baltimore this weekend so I'll probably budget some time to pay a visit to the National Aquarium.

Check cost first at Dallas World Aquarium- so you're not unprepared.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.

That is the only reason we didn't go there first.

hmm, i respectfully disagree. I thought it was on the high side even when it was $12. For $2 more than the current price you can get into the national aquarium. Now THAT'S worth the money.
