I have an assignment for the Telegram to shoot Miranda Lambert at Billy Bob's, and I was wondering if anyone has shot there before. I just want to get a heads up on the lighting there. Thanks!

I've never shot there but I went once. Lighting is pretty good across the stage. When I went, I actually saw Tim McGraw which now I think is one of the coolest country stars. As far as lighting, what I can remember that night, it was your regular performance stage. Yellow-ish lighting on stage, definitely not white...then some assorted colors, etc etc. Some parts of Billy Bob's is lit like the rooms with the pool tables but other than that, expect a night club scene.

Great, thanks for the info. So, it shouldn't be terribly dark or anything. Just have to deal with white balancing. Yeah, Tim McGraw is cool! Thanks!!!!

Leslie, I have shot at Billy Bobs before and if you are with the star and this is mainstage it will depend on how close you are but the lighting is good.

You can see some of the stuff I have posted here : http://www.pbase.com/stephengibsonph..._band&page=all

This was not the mainstage but the smaller stage in by the dance floor, this might give you an idea of some of the lighting in there.

Cant wait to see some of it if you can sneek and post some of it.

All these were with the 10D or 20D that a friend loaned me at the time and either a 24-70 2.8, 85 1.8, or 100 2.8 and my nifty 50 1.8, running 800 iso.

Hopefully this might give you some ideas.

Steve
