A Farewell to the Hard Rock Cafe - 02-23-2007, 12:08 AM

As many of you know and have reported, the Hard Rock Cafe on McKinney Ave in Dallas is closing the first week of March. As a frequent customer and rock & roll enthusiast (I also DJ an was a radio DJ in my younger days), I will be very sad to see it leave its special facility. I was told by staff that the building will be sold for other uses. Over all the visits and the years, I always vowed to take my camera to shoot the place, so last Saturday I made the pilgrimage. Here are just a few of the pictures I took with my Canon 20D and Tamron 17-35mm Di lens. If you've never gone, get there quickly. It's a special place as bar/restaurants go, the memorabilia, music, and the architecture, especially the stained glass windows. I'll miss it a lot and will wait for the HRC's return to Dallas (supposedly near the AAC in a couple of years). The last picture says it all.

Wow.. I had no idea. Gosh the last time I went there was for an Eric Johnson concert (many many years ago...his first tour). I even played there a time or two when I used to do the band thing..

Thanks for posting.. Not sure I'll be able to get back there before they close it. :(

Thanks, Andrew. I'm sure the names and the bands that have been there over the years have been extensive. I'm glad you were able to be part of it.

Wow... I guess it lasted longer than the one here in Austin - which was I think maybe less than a year...

There is a rumor that they are planning to relocate it. House of Blues looks hot though. :D

As noted in my first post, the manager told me at the time that they were planning to reopen in the area around the American Airlines Center in the next 2 years.

They'd better hurry. There isn't much room left.
