tcu/downtown fort worth/stockyards location tips - 03-02-2007, 12:02 AM

I'm doing a few engagement sessions this weekend and one of the couples wants to shoot on the TCU campus, the stockyards, and downtown FW. Anyone got any suggestions for locations in any of those areas that are pretty this time of year? Especially the stockyards, I am totally unfamiliar with that area. We're shooting at noon - UGH - so shady areas would be awesome.

In the stockyards, there are some areas inside Stockyards Station. There is a back aisle that doesn't have much activity. just go to the left when you get in the front, all the way to the last aisle. brick walkways, a few good places to shoot. The front aisleway has the most activity & can be too crowded at times.

Yeah, what David said.
Stockyards Station have some cool spots, just have to get away from the crowds.
There are neat brick walkways and cool hallways.
Here is a shot from x-mas of my kids from there, you can see the brick walkway.

There are a lot of areas in the stockyards area that would make interesting backgrounds if there is not too much passer-by traffic. The buildings on Exchange Ave and N Main St. Around the Exchange building, the RR Turntable, The stock pens. Billy Bobs. All in walking distance. Even a few of the alleys...!
Downtown...Main St between the Courthouse and the Convention Center. The little Park N of the Courthouse, overlooking the Old N Main Street Bridge and the River. Burnett Park on 7th St. They were talking about reopening the Water Garden (???)

Even though TCU, the stockyards and Downtown Ft Worth are all in the same town, you are looking at a LONG day if they want to shoot in all of those places. I would recommend the Main Exchange building at the stockyards for a good multi usage photo backdrop and, as Paul mentioned, the Water gardens, they are due to be opened This weekend I believe. Is the couple looking for something specific in theme?

I always thought this would be an interesting location for a couples shoot.
On Main in the Stockyards area just across from Billy Bob's.
This was from a commercial shoot, and not to imply these guys are couples...!!!
