Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share a few of my faves from '06.

I've broken each photo down into smaller thumbs - Please click for larger image.
I figured since this was my first, I could fudge a little. Next time I won't post as many.
Even though the slowest of connections should be fine.

CC is always welcome. Hope you enjoy!

Thanks!

Nice work Justin. I really like the shot of the girl and the one below it which looks like some HDR. The colors are sweet.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate all the kind words.

Bryan: Yeah...I went through a short HDR phase in mid '06. Early on, my tone mapping would tend to lean towards the surreal side.... I started using a more moderate technique in order to tame that surreal look, but I quickly realized I could achieve the same effect using the Shadow & Highlight tool in CS/CS2... The file isn't beaten to death by the time you're finished either.

Q: Is this an acceptable number of photos for a thread around here? Or should I trim it down? I've got a ton of stuff I'd like to share, but I don't want to tick anyone off in the process.

Thanks again!

I want to know where you took the skylines from.... its hard to find a good (and safe) place for skyline pics of Dallas. I seem to be obsessed with skylines, and want to take them from every possible vantage point.

You could even post the locales in the Dallas Skyline thread in phto locales forum.

Otherwise, incredible imagery... I love the disappearing DART!

LOVE your work!!! I too would like to know where to capture good downtown Dallas skyline photos. I have a good spot, but it is only because I work at Cityplace and have access to the 42nd floor ballroom.
The number of photos you posted were fine for me......Im on a t1 here at work and it loaded in good time.

Thank you! Its been a skyline thing since day one for me as well. I've worked this city to death for close to three years now... Sometimes I shoot 2,3 times a day....sunrise/sunset are the norm.. I catch the lunch hour, when i can, for street work.

I'll post as many easily accessible vantage points as possible. Even though half the fun is hitting towers, finding the right fire escape and eventually an open roof door.. Its just a numbers game. (:

I take ppl shooting in Dallas all the time, so if anyone ever wants a personalized look around town, just say the word.. Abandonments, drains/tunnels, skyline, street, ghetto...whatever.. I'm always up for it.

Glad you like the train shot. I think it has to be my favorite (:
Here's another you might like.. neat story behind it, if you please.

Thanks again!

.
Thank you!

I'll trade you

I've been trying to capture that view for...well.. about three years now.

I'll see if I can't put something together for you guys, skyline wise.

Thanks again!

hahahah I work for CHG and Wynnwood catering (chgcityplace.com) They have a pic of the view from the ballroom on their website. You can see the vantage point I get!!! I will probably go up there next week while my boss is out of town! hehehe We own the ballroom up there as well as the ballroom on the third floor, several meeting rooms, the cafe and cafeteria at cityplace and at the Dallas museum of art. Thats a Building you need to go over to and photograph. it is a REALLY pretty building, that and the sculpture garden across the street from the DMA.
